Legend of Zelda: Fanfiction pg 3

       Mallory wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. No matter how hard she would try she couldn't remember.  "Well, im not going to worry about that now... I have to find out why this feather is so... odd." she thought. She went to her closet and opened the doors, and began to shift through her shelf of books. "There has to be something here...."  Her hands ran across titles hoping to have some insight to her questions. Species common in Hiland, Extraordinary Mammals on Earth "No no.... Do I even own a bird book?!" Time went by slowly as she sorted through mounds of hardback, and paperback writings. Mallory started to become frustrated. There had to be a reason why she found the feather.... had to be.
      At least ten minuets later she came across a book that made her eyes widen. Ancient Hiland The cover was a fading brown and the edges were so tattered the hardness of the book was becoming flimsy.   I never seen this book before.... she looked at it with wonder. All the books in her bedroom were handed down from her mother, but this seemed older than her and her parents. Perhaps it was handed down from her real mother and father. Her blue eyes scanned the cover more closely. Then something once again caught her eye, the actual title where it said "Hiland" seem to have been messed with.  Someone had taken an object and changed the title.  Mallory rubbed hard on the title with the end of her dress but it had no effect. ''Thats odd... Oh I haven't even looked inside yet!" she chattered excitedly. With a swift moment she pulled the pages apart but it didn't move.   Okay......? She tried to pull the front cover up and it still the both wouldn't budge.
        
      Mallory sat down staring at the brown book. It had to open. It will open. She sat thinking for a while, staring at the red piece of plumage on her dresser. Again she picked up the book looking the cover, "There has to be some clue here!" She flipped the book over and saw tiny symbols near the bottom. She stood up and brought it underneath some light. They symbols were abstract unlike any other writing she had ever seen. As she stared at it the symbols began to change into words.

"Only the wisest of the Island in the Heavens can open this cover. Only She can break the bonds between parchment and share its knowledge all over. Passed down through a deity line, one written in time. If you are worthy only one phrase has to be said, that has been spoken in Hylia's great plan.

Mallory dropped the book on her bed quickly and started at it her eyes widening to a dramatic size. Her mouth, open, she couldn't believe what she had just witnessed. She looked at it again, the symbols once again reforming so she could read it. "What phrase needs to be said? " she asked out-loud. Suddenly she heard footsteps out side her bedroom coming down the hall. Quickly she grabbed the book and hid it underneath her bed mattress. And pulled her bed sheets over the gap.

"Mallory?" her mother said at the door knocking.
"Come in!" she said rather shaky.  Her mother walk in smiling. "Well you got your-self a letter young lady." she said happily.
"A letter? From who?' It was odd she never got a single letter ever. She didn't really have ay friends that wrote to her.
"Apparently It's one of your parents cousin, if I remember correctly her name is Inda. Very strange name if u ask me." she said handing it to her. "She says she has important news to discuss with you, about your parents. She's worried you may feel lost and uncomfortable here with me."
"Oh... " her voice was low.
"She will be here at noon tomorrow. So be ready." Her mother said stern. "Well, im going to finish cleaning and then go to bed, and I suggest you do the same."
After her bedroom door closed, Mallory fell onto her bed. "Way to much... in one day." After some time she fell asleep. She dreamt of the book and her opening it, but no words were inside.
